Ijeoma Oluo is a writer, speaker, and internet yeller. She is the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller So You Want to Talk About Race, which is the 2022-23 Common Read for Sonoma State. Her newest book is Mediocre: The Dangerous Legacy of White Male America. Her writing on race has also been featured in The GuardianThe New York Times, and The Washington Post, among many other publications. She was named to the 2021 TIME 100 Next list and has twice been named to the Root 100.

The Social Justice Lecture Series is sponsored by philanthropist and former SSU professor Andréa Neves and her late husband, Silicon Valley engineer and executive Barton Evans. It is co-hosted annually by the School of Education and School of Social Sciences.
