Dear Campus Community,
We are saddened by the tragic incident that occurred at the Route 91 Music Festival in Las Vegas last night. We have learned that a handful of Sonoma State students were at the concert. One SSU student was injured, but thankfully she is recovering and in stable condition. Our hearts go out to her, as well as her family and friends.
The Sonoma State community joins people everywhere who are heartbroken and shocked by this horrific tragedy. We extend our deepest condolences to all of the victims, friends and families, and we wish a full and speedy recovery to those who were injured.
Tragedies like these are so unsettling and difficult to comprehend. They hit us all emotionally and can undermine everyone's sense of safety and well-being. We will be learning more about the incident in the hours and days ahead, and each person will deal with his or her emotions in their own personal way. One of the best things any of us can do right now is to make sure we are there for each other in a spirit of empathy and understanding. For anyone on campus needing additional support, our Counseling and Psychological Services office can provide a safe and confidential environment to discuss this with a counselor.
