I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jerlena Griffin-Desta as Chief of Staff/Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Diversity. She comes to us from the University of California Office of the President where she serves as Deputy to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Associate Vice President for Student Development and Engagement. In 2017-18, she served as an American Council on Education Fellow at the University of Washington where she focused on campus and system governance. My thanks to the student, staff and faculty leadership who played an important role in this recruitment, selection and appointment. Dr. Griffin-Desta will join us on Jan. 28, 2019. It is hard to believe that the fall semester is already over, the holiday season is here, and the new year is approaching. I continue to appreciate your support and advice.
