University Based Scholarships

University Scholarship Program Scholarships

Sonoma State University offers several scholarship programs. The merit-based University Scholarship Program is the largest one, requiring a single application. The application consists of a narrative, two letters of recommendation, and the online application submission. You must be an applicant, already accepted, or a current student at SSU in order to apply for a university scholarship. Formal admission to SSU is not required. The application period begins September 15th for the next academic year. The deadline to submit the materials is January 15. Click here to begin the application process.

Presidential Scholar Program

In addition to the above program, SSU also guarantees a $1,000 Presidential Scholar Program for incoming freshmen who have a cumulative weighted 4.0 g.p.a. or above for their sophomore, junior and first semester senior years. The g.p.a. calculation does not include P.E. courses but does allow for weighting of courses according to SSU’s admission policy. If you are interested in participating in the Presidential Scholar at Entrance Scholarship Program, please contact the scholarship coordinator at 707-664-2261 or email.

CSU Future Scholars Scholarships

This scholarship is designed for low-income, first-generation college students. It is renewable for up to four years. More information is forthcoming.

Theatre Arts and Music Scholarships

The Theatre Arts and Music departments offer their own unique scholarships for which there is a separate application and audition.

Athletic Talent Awards

Each coach is responsible for making talent awards to athletes on their team. Consequently, student athletes should contact the appropriate coach to explore possible athletic talent awards.

Departmental Scholarships

Another source of scholarships on campus are the departments which you may call or e-mail through their home pages.
