Alternative Break Trips are a great way to travel to a new location and get involved with local service projects! Some past service projects have included: addressing poverty, environmental restoration, disaster relief, education and literacy, and affordable housing. Take a look!
ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK 2013
Make your spring break matter! If you’re ready to have a life changing experience that will truly making a difference, then this is the program for you! We have three trips taking place over Spring Break, March 16th – 23rd. The trips include:
The Effects of Greed on the Environment - Maryville, TN
- Participants will work with a variety of non-profits in the Smokey Mountains. They will explore the effects of mountain top removal, damning, and the benefits of environmental advocacy through a variety of service projects.
Breaking the Cycle of Hunger & Homelessness - Portland, OR
- Students will work with several non-profits working to alleviate homelessness and hunger in the Greater Portland Area, including: Loaves Fishes, Oregon Food & Downtown Chapel. Check it out!
Repairing Homes, Rebuilding Hope: Disaster Relief - New Orleans, LA
- Participants will be working with many non-profits that work with victims of natural disasters. Students will be rebuilding homes, working with youth, and doing environmental projects. They will also have the opportunity to become first responders.
Serving Justice: An Exploration of Food Justice in the Bay Area -Bay Area, CA
- Participants will be volunteering with a variety of organizations that educate, organize, and foster new social relations around food to change eating and distribution patterns in the Greater Bay Area.
