Welcome to the Department of Art and Art History at Sonoma State University

For thirty years, Sonoma State University, Department of Art and Art History has been the hub of visual art on campus and in Sonoma County. As a center of creativity and experimentation, the department provides students with the foundation for a lifetime of visual arts study and presence. Our majors offer in-depth education in technique, concept and history of art.

Victoria Helena Mihatovic, a Sonoma State University upcoming Spring 16 Graduate in Art Studio, sculpture emphasis, has been awarded a commission by Lagunitas Brewing Company, in partnership with the City of Petaluma for her work titled “SPARK 9.12.15”

Important Dates:

  • April 22 - May 27: Registration for Fall 2016 - by appointment only

  • May 16 - May 20: FINAL EXAMS

  • May 21: Commencement!

    Department Quick Links

    • $10.00 single lab fee is charged one time per semester to each student enrolled in a studio art course. The fee is to support all studio art classes through the purchase of clean up and disposable safety equipment in bulk through one centralized fee.
    • Is your class planning a fieldtrip? Get the FIELDTRIP FORMS Here! Everyone needs to complete the Emergency Release Form. If you are driving, then complete the other two in the packet as well.
