Dear Colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to provide you with an important update regarding the presidential search for Sonoma State University. Today, during the Board of Trustees meeting, I will be announcing that the presidential search will resume this fall. We anticipate announcing the appointment of the university’s next regularly appointed president in the first quarter of 2026.
In the meantime, Interim President Emily Cutrer will continue to lead the institution and take significant and necessary steps to address the fiscal and enrollment challenges that the university is currently facing. To support this work, please be assured that the CSU will advocate diligently, consistently, and forcefully against the governor's proposed budget cut and for the restoration of ongoing compact funding.
We all share a common goal of ensuring the very best for Sonoma State, and we are committed to finding the ideal leader for the university. I am grateful for your collaboration with Interim President Cutrer as we take the necessary steps to strengthen the university and pave the way for its brightest future.
Thank you for your continued dedication and hard work.
Warmly,
Mildred García, Ed.D.
Chancellor
