FR: Dr. Gerald L. Jones, Vice President for Student Affairs, Dean of Students, and Acting Senior Diversity Officer
Dear Campus Community,
We are excited to share transformative updates from the Office of Institutional Equity and Belonging (IEB)! This semester, the HUB will expand and relocate to a central, inclusive space on the first floor of the Schulz building (formerly home to Career Services and the 24-Hour Lab). This new location will establish a vibrant intercultural center, celebrating and supporting the rich diversity of our campus community.
The expanded HUB will include:
- A new Black Resource Center (mandated by the Chancellor’s Office)
- Enhanced space for the DREAM Center
- The addition of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Student Achievement Program (ASAP)
- Dedicated cultural spaces for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander; Hispanic/Latine; LGBTQIA2+; and Native and Indigenous communities
As part of this transition, Career Services will move to the HUB’s current location on the second floor of the Student Center, ensuring both departments are positioned to better serve our campus community.
We are also thrilled to announce Bianca Delgado as the new Senior Coordinator for Intercultural and Undocumented Programs. In this role, Bianca will oversee the programs and operations of both the HUB and DREAM Centers, building on the impactful legacies of former DREAM Center leaders Dr. Mariana G. Martinez, Ariana Aparicio Aguilar, Rosa Salamanca Moreira, Alma Sanchez-Carreno, and Khou Yang-Vigil. We deeply appreciate their foundational contributions to supporting undocumented students and their unwavering dedication to advancing equity and access for our campus community.
This exciting growth creates new opportunities for connection, belonging, and collaboration across campus, while advancing the important work of the Office of Institutional Equity and Belonging. You can view the complete scope of IEB's work by clicking here.
We look forward to working together to make this expansion a success. If you have any questions or ideas, please feel free to reach out to Tramaine Austin-Dillon, Director of Institutional Equity and Belonging.
