Refresh Your Workspace Challenge During Campus Safety Week!

TO: All employees
FR: Tyson Hill, Associate Vice President for Risk Management and Safety Services

As part of next week’s planned Campus Safety Week activities, we are partnering with Facilities Management on Refresh Your Workspace: Office Tidy-up Challenge. During this week, we are encouraging all departments to consider dedicating some time to doing general clean up of your work areas, storage, kitchenettes, and any other spots that could use some general tidying. Keeping a tidy office is integral to campus safety, protecting campus facilities and employees from hazards associated with fire, health, and accessibility.

Tidy up activities might include:

  • Materials for shred? We have a drop off event happening on Thursday!
  • Throw out those old office supplies (looking at you, old binders!)
  • Unnecessary furniture or other large items?  We'll pick them up.
  • Unused materials and general clutter? We’ll deliver garbage cans.
  • Old printers, monitors, keyboards, and mice?  E-waste pick up is free!
  • Hazardous waste or unused chemicals lying around?  We will safely pick up and dispose.

To ensure our dedicated custodial team can support your tidy up efforts, we are asking those departments who plan to participate to fill out a quick survey describing the types of waste you may have so we can drop off appropriate disposal containers. Once the survey is complete, we will coordinate delivery of the materials necessary to help support your tidy-up, as well as coordinate pick-up of any hazardous or chemical materials.

Additionally, if you submit the survey above and notify us that your office or suite is participating, you may receive a fun Campus Safety Week surprise!
