TO: Sonoma State Employees
FR: M. Monir Ahmed, Vice President for Administration and Finance/Chief Financial Officer
I am announcing with mixed emotion that David Chun, Associate Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Sonoma State, is departing the campus to take another position out of state. His last day with Sonoma State will be March 31, 2024.
Planning is already underway for determining interim leadership while we open the search for a permanent replacement to fill the AVP/CIO position soon.
David has been with Sonoma State for nearly four years and saw the campus through the difficult period of the pandemic. His unit supported the campus community with multi-modality options that allowed staff to complete day-to-day work, faculty to continue to teach, and our students to continue to learn in an ever-changing environment.
In the post-pandemic years, David has been instrumental in upgrading much of our aging IT infrastructure as well as overseeing a complete reorganization of IT programs and services to meet the needs of the campus community as we returned to a new working environment. Our reduced enrollment forced us to make many hard decisions related to IT staffing, and David has been very engaged throughout the process, working hand in hand with campus leadership and IT staff to help implement changes.
Please join me in congratulating David for a job well done and wish him well in his next adventure.
