Greetings Noma Nation Campus Partners!
Spring '24 Transfer and First-Year Noma Nation Orientation is right around the corner, on Friday, November 3! Thank you for mingling, presenting, tabling, recording the event, or helping our students with advising, parking, eating, etc. We are working hard to make sure that this program is informative, connects them to the University, people and departments they can turn to if they need assistance, and welcomes new Seawolves to our Noma Nation!
What follows is information about the day to share with your teams/faculty/staff, and a schedule of the events for the day. We want to make sure you have the information you need to do what you do!
Additional details about Spring '24 Orientation:
- Noma Nation Orientation is for first-year and transfer students who are admitted to begin (or continue) their SSU journey in Spring 2024.
- The website for the Spring '24 Noma Nation Orientation can be found here. Please check it out and familiarize yourself with the info in case they come to your office/space.
- In-Person: We have approximately 200 students taking part in the in-person orientation.
- Virtual: We will be recording the Orientation for those who cannot make it in-person. Those students who cannot make November 3 work due to other commitments will get a recorded copy of the day, as well as the slide decks.
- Parking for our Orientation students will be in Lot J. There will be a parking attendant at the main entrance (across from the back of the Student Center) to give them parking passes. We also hope to have students guiding them in and directing them to the lot.
- The majority of the sessions for the day will occur in the Student Center Ballrooms and computer labs around campus.
- Lunch for the students will be at The Kitchens, and is included in their Noma Nation Orientation registration. (They just need to use their nametag to get in.)
Morning Coffee and Connect (Welcome and Mingling):
- From about 8:30-9:10 a.m. we will be hosting beverages and continental breakfast for the new incoming Seawolves and staff/faculty/student leaders in attendance. If you have the time, we would love to have some representation from your areas.
- Welcome and Mingling will be in the ballrooms on the third floor of the Student Center.
- If you are planning on attending the Welcome and Mingling session, please RSVP here so we can account for appropriate food needs.
By the end of the day, our goals are to make sure incoming students know resources, get their academic advising, register for Spring '24 courses if they need to, and depart knowing that they are happy with their choice of Sonoma State and that they are joining the Seawolf Family!
