In December 2021, we announced that Sonoma State University had opted into the CSU Systemwide Telecommuting Program to allow some schedule flexibility where operationally feasible (for CSUEU, APC, MPP/C99/E99 employees). The rollout of the program was communicated to be on a trial basis with the initial telecommuting agreements ending on March 30, 2022. Following disruption to the pilot in early spring as a result of the campus response to the Sonoma County Public Health Order, the decision has been made to extend the pilot period through May 31, 2022.
At this time, managers and employees are encouraged to discuss how the current telecommute schedules have been working to meet operational needs. Should adjustments be requested by employees or management, a new telecommuting agreement can be submitted for review, otherwise, all previously approved agreements will automatically be extended through May 31, 2022 (with no further action required).
Additional information regarding the Sonoma State Telecommuting Program can be found on the website (http://hr.sonoma.edu/ssu-telecommuting-program). This site details program guidelines describes the process for eligible employees to request a telecommuting schedule and also provides the necessary forms to apply for consideration of telecommuting.
As a reminder, the preponderance of work is expected to be completed on campus, and employees with a telecommute agreement are required to be available to return to campus when operationally necessary. Full-time telecommuting will only be approved under extraordinary circumstances by the Division head. The CSU Telecommuting Program also states that telecommuting may only occur from within the State of California unless specifically authorized by the university president.
