TO: All employees
FR: Jeff Banks, Senior Associate Vice President for University Personnel
In celebration of the 2021 holiday season, Governor Newsom has authorized four hours of informal paid time off for state employees on the last business (work) day before December 25. In addition, Chancellor Castro has granted authority to campus Presidents to allow additional informal paid time off for CSU employees. We are pleased to announce that President Sakaki has graciously authorized the remaining four hours as informal paid time off for Sonoma State University employees. This effectively closes our campus the entire day on December 23, with the exception of key/essential personnel.
Please do not record this informal paid time off on absence reports or through Absence Management/Self Service. All exempt and nonexempt employees will automatically be granted informal time off with pay on December 23. Employees who work less than full time will be provided informal time off on a pro-rata basis.
Employees who may be required to work that day, will be granted equivalent informal paid time off prior to June 30, 2022. Hourly employees, other than those in Class Codes 1150, 1151, 1152, 1153, 1360, 1868, 1870, 1871, 1872, 1874, 1875, 1876, 2680, 2681, 7171, 7172, and 7930, will be permitted informal time off with pay based on the number of hours scheduled to work in the December pay period provided they are scheduled to work and are actively employed (not separated with a December 23 or prior effective date). This time off is not considered CTO, and it is not compensable in cash. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact payroll@sonoma.edu.
Thank you for all that you do and Happy Holidays!
