As previously communicated, COVID-19 and reduced student enrollment have created budget challenges that require careful consideration of creative solutions in order to best serve our students while being fiscally prudent. The Early Exit Program has been developed to provide the campus with the opportunity to reorganize certain positions in order to reduce our base budget.
President Sakaki and the Cabinet have agreed to offer a voluntary Early Exit Program (EEP) for SSU CalPERS service retirement eligible-employees with 10 years or more of service at SSU. The EEP will provide a six-month severance package (with a minimum payout of $25,000 and a maximum payout of $60,000) to employees who voluntarily elect to participate.
We encourage all employees interested in this program to review the EEP Terms and Conditions, FAQ’s and Application (http://web.sonoma.edu/hr/payroll/eep). Please thoroughly review all eligibility criteria in the Terms and Conditions document prior to applying for the EEP. Please direct Faculty questions to Dr. Deborah A. The application period is April 1, 2021 through April 30, 2021. Please note that we are unable to accommodate any applications received after April 30, 2021. Once an application is approved and the Agreement and Release form(s) are executed, the employee must separate from the University by July 31, 2021.
For those considering retirement, Trisha Ramos, Managing Director of Payroll, Benefits and Workers’ Compensation will be offering Understanding Your CalPERS Retirement Workshop on the following dates:
• March 19, 2021 (12 - 1:30pm)
• April 8, 2021 (12 - 1:30pm)
• April 15, 2021 (12 - 1:30pm)
Additional workshops may be scheduled, if needed. These workshops will be open to all employees, regardless of participation or eligibility in the EEP. Please email trisha.ramos@sonoma.edu to register. If you are unable to attend one of the SSU retirement workshops, please take advantage of CalPERS member education resources.
