Campus Climate Survey

Dear SSU Community,

Over a year ago, the President’s Advisory Council (PAC) on Diversity, Equity, Campus Climate, and Inclusion was formed to build upon the work of the Diversity Council. Chaired by Dr. Griffin-Desta and Dean Karen Schneider, the PAC was charged with three deliverables: create an inventory of all SSU programs and courses related to diversity; identify a vendor to conduct our first-ever campus climate study; and evaluate how to dismantle barriers to equity and access through our policies, programs, and practices. We are pleased to report that the PAC achieved all three.

We are excited to announce that we have contracted with Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys to administer our survey beginning April 2 through April 26, 2021. The survey is anonymous and takes about 15 minutes to complete. Survey results will be used to identify and celebrate our strengths and to recognize opportunities for improvement. All members of our Seawolf community are strongly encouraged to complete the survey, which will be sent to your SSU email account on April 2, 2021. The staff/faculty survey will also be available in Spanish.

As part of our long-term strategic plan, taking the pulse of our community is key to learning where we may need to do more work. We will continue to demonstrate our steadfast commitment to a more diverse community reflective of our State, ensure equitable practices that allow for members of our community to excel, and value and practice inclusivity at every opportunity.
Every voice matters, and we want to hear yours! Thank you for helping make SSU rise to our next level of excellence.

Sincerely,
Judy K. Sakaki, Ph.D.                        Jerlena Griffin-Desta, Ph.D.
