The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which will determine student financial aid eligibility for the fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025 terms, will be delayed until December of this year.
The FAFSA Simplification Act -- a redesign initiative by the United States Department of Education to make applying for federal student aid easier for students -- is being cited for the delay. This is the first redesign of the FAFSA process in over 40 years.
Here’s what you need to know:
- The 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) will not be available until December 2023.
- The 2024-25 FAFSA/CADAA determines your financial aid eligibility for the fall 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025 terms.
Go to the FAFSA Simplification page on the Financial Aid Office website for more information and for preparations you can make now.
