FR: Erin Hunter, Director of Residential Education and Campus Housing (REACH)
Greetings Sonoma State Colleagues:
We are excited that our new students will be moving in and experiencing orientation all within the week of August 15 - 20. Students will spend the week learning about resources and opportunities, as well as getting familiar with our amazing campus and community.
We invite you to get involved and support student Move-In and Orientation events. Volunteering is a great way to connect with students and make sure their first memories at Sonoma State are great. Your voluntary support ensures quality service to all.
Please review the opportunities below and click the links to sign up for shifts. Thank you in advance for helping us make our 2023 Move-In and Orientation a great experience!
Student Move-In Volunteer Opportunities
We will be welcoming almost 2,200 residential students and can use your help! All move-in volunteers will be asked to attend a Zoom meeting prior to move-in to receive instructions for their shift and the move-in process. All move-in helpers will receive a NOMA Nation t-shirt. Lunch will be from 12-1 p.m., and food will be provided to those volunteering for six or more hours on August 15.
Your participation is completely voluntary and extremely appreciated! Please note any shifts covered by non-essential staff for move-in are considered voluntary and as such will not be included in hours worked for the calculation of overtime or CTO. Contact Erin Hunter with any questions. Please fill out and indicate your preferences on the Move-In and Orientation 2023 volunteer form.
As a reminder and to ensure you remain safe and injury free, we ask that you refrain from moving and/or lifting items during move-in.
Orientation Volunteer Opportunities
Orientation will include daytime curriculum and afternoon/evening events. We could use help staffing our afternoon/evening programs on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday during the week of August 16-20. CTO will not be provided for volunteering at Orientation events, however, please work with your appropriate administrator if you would like to determine if you can temporarily adjust your schedule. Contact Mo Phillips with any questions. You may sign up using the Move-In and Orientation 2023 volunteer form.
We appreciate your support!
