I write to provide an update regarding the timeline for the nationwide search for the next regularly appointed president of Sonoma State University.
The search process will not begin during the 2022-23 academic year. This decision is made in light of the fact that the California State University is engaged in multiple presidential searches across the system, and it allows the CSU to ensure that every search is provided the time and resources necessary to appoint a president uniquely qualified to lead each university to even greater heights of success, while giving university constituents and stakeholders ample opportunity to participate in the process.
I make this announcement with the utmost confidence in Interim President Mike Lee, who has consistently demonstrated adept and steady leadership since he assumed the Sonoma State presidency on August 1, 2022. The CSU Board of Trustees and I are assured that he will continue to skillfully provide the collaborative, experienced and principled leadership that the university requires through this critical moment in its history.
I will continue to provide additional updates as they become available. And I ask for your participation in this vitally important search process when it commences.
