November 16, 2022
Dear Campus Community,
I want to let you know that we submitted our multi-year budget and enrollment plans to the Chancellor’s Office, in response to their request, on Monday, November 14. We submitted three documents:
- Five-Year Strategic Enrollment Increase Plan (named the Strategic Enrollment Management Plan)
- Multi-Year Budget Plan (Excel document) that eliminates deficit spending by fiscal year 2024-25
- Multi-Year Budget Plan narrative detailing the steps we plan to take to reach the goals set in the Multi-Year Budget Plan (Excel)
Completing these plans has been a whole-campus project, and I want to thank everyone for your engagement in the process. I have received valuable feedback from the President’s Senior Leadership Council (PSLC), the President’s Budget Advisory Committee, the November 3rd Open Budget Forum, and the online feedback form we launched in tandem with the Forum. Indeed, you may see your ideas reflected in the final documents, which you can access at the following links: SEM Plan, Budget Plan, and Narrative. I especially want to thank our shared governance partners, Associated Students, Staff Council, and Academic Senate, for their dedicated efforts and thoughtful participation. As the old saying goes, it takes a village, and once again I am impressed by and proud of how quickly and fully our campus has come together in this time of need.
I have strong confidence in Sonoma State’s ability to meet its fiscal and enrollment goals. The way ahead is not going to be completely smooth or painless, but I believe that the deep well of care, knowledge, and loyalty that characterizes our campus community will see us through. We have let the Chancellor’s Office know that we will be closely monitoring progress on implementation, and we will formally update them each year on March 15th and October 15th. Please be assured that we will update the campus community at those times, as well, and that in the meantime we will continue the consultation and feedback process with campus stakeholders.
Thank you again for everything you bring to the campus every day, and for your constructive, thoughtful contributions to our collective success.
Warmly,
Mike
Mike Lee, Ph.D.
