TO: All employees
FR: Evan Ferguson, Deputy CIO
The IT Department would like to share some important changes related to Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at SSU.
A new MFA self-service tool is now available for both employees and students. The tool allows you to add and remove MFA devices without the need for direct IT support. More specifically, this tool allows you to add MFA on a new device quickly and easily, even outside of normal business hours.
Securing MFA
On September 20, MFA phone call authentication will be discontinued. You will still be able to use the Duo app, hardware token, or a one-time IT-provided bypass code for MFA authentication. Be sure to have the Duo app or hardware token set up prior to September 20 to avoid issues accessing your account.
Additional Updates
A new version of the Duo app is expected to be available in mid-October. Please update the application once it becomes available. A video highlighting the new design and features is available here:
Introduction to the Redesigned Duo Mobile Version 4 Application
IT is pleased to announce that in addition to all employees being enrolled in MFA, we already have 3,000 students who have enrolled as well. Over the next few months, IT plans to onboard the remaining student body to accomplish our goal of 100% of active student enrollment by the end of 2021.
As always, please contact the IT Help Desk with any questions regarding MFA.
