Family Nurse Practitioner

The post-master’s Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate Program, offered in partnership between the Nursing Department and the School of Extended and International Education, is a two-year, 36-unit program designed for nurses who already hold a master of science in nursing.

The FNP Certificate Program operates as a cohort model, with everyone in the program moving through at the same speed. Certificate students are integrated into the SSU FNP master’s track to create more opportunities to interact with other students, but take fewer classes as they are given credit for their previous MS coursework.

The SSU Family Nurse Practitioner program meets criteria specified in Section 1484, Title XVI of the California Administrative Code and is fully approved by the California BRN and the ACEN Accreditation.

Graduates are eligible for and encouraged to seek national certification by taking either of these exams:
