Decision Day Thank-Yous

Thursday, April 25, 2024, 2:45pm

TO: Campus Community
FR: Dr. Ed Mills, Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management

Thanks to the efforts of so many people throughout the campus, our Decision Day event last Saturday was a huge success. We had more than 2,000 registrants and had more than 1,700 folks attend the event (including about 600 prospective students and their families and friends). I want to thank as many people as I can. As with any list, I risk leaving someone out. But I'll do my best.

OK, get ready. This is going to start to sound like one of those award show speeches when they are trying to thank everyone before the music starts to play:

I need to start by thanking Kelley Kaslar, who did an outstanding job coordinating the event. If I knew how to insert virtual applause in a message, I would do that right here.
Our Facilities crew led by Talmadge Savage prepared the campus and it looked spectacular (and thanks Mark for the golf carts :-).
Our superb Creative Services team (Sandy and Brittany) and our amazing Campus Prints team led by Gabi Chew -- how did they do it all?
The Culinary Services Team led by Lauren Antoni made feeding everyone look easy. I know it wasn't. Well done!
The Green Music Center team, Caroline Neyman, Kamen Nikolov, Jerry Uhiligh, Jen Silvera. What a great group!
Doug Leibinger and the Always Cool Sonoma State Jazz Band -- you were awesome!
Kim Purdy, Ricardo Calderon, and everyone from our academic departments (our faculty, chairs, advisors, and deans).
Our wonderful students representing student clubs and organizations who tabled and provided great information and advice to our prospective students and their families.

The music is starting to play...

Jenna Hennessy and Jenna Spolarich, who coordinated all the happenings at the Student Center.
John Lynch and his team from the Center for Teaching and Educational Technology.
Sarah Gillespie and Kindra Kautz from Conferences and Events.

I'm talking faster...

Michael Balasek, Mo Philips, Erik Dickson, Ryan Henne, and Sarah Ellison and all the staff from Student Affairs.
Joy Sun and Jen Barnett (Jen was also our cart driver) from Contracts and Procurement.
Our custodial crew for keeping the campus looking so good.

They are starting to usher me off-stage...

Everyone who opened their doors for visitors: Rec Center, Theater Arts, Schulz Information Center, Art Gallery, REACH, Seawolf Service Center, IT Help Desk, Financial Aid, Admissions, Records, Outreach, Welcome Center Team,  The Campus Bookstore, SIP, and Toast.
All of our speakers at our sessions, including President Lee, AS President Cassandra Garcia, Rich Toledo and his amazing word clouds, and Alumni Board President Libby Payan.

Cut to Commercial.

Drat -- I'm out of time.  I am truly grateful for everyone's time and effort!
