The book Home Turf; a Bestiary of Sonoma State University by SSU alumna and retiree Lakin Khan with drawings by Shane Weare, Emeritus Professor, SSU Art Department, has now been published.

These are nature essays about the creatures and habitats of the SSU campus originally published in Newsbytes, which were then developed into the format of a bestiary with Professor Noelle Oxenhandler during a Masters program. A RSCAP Grant provided the support to pursue publication. The author is an alumna of SSU (both under-grad and graduate programs) as well as a retired administrative employee, having worked in the Math and Biology Departments, then teaching as a Lecturer in English for several years. Shane Weare is a well-known Bay Area printmaker, who taught in the SSU Art Department for almost 30 years.

There will be a reading from the book, along with displays of the art work. Books will be available for purchase and, of course, signing.

The book is currently available through Amazon and through Copperfield's Books in Petaluma or you can contact the author, Lakin Khan (lakhan@sonic.net) directly.
