Curbing Gun Violence Subject of Campus Panel

Associated Students Productions has planned a program addressing the crucial issue of gun violence particularly as it applies to college campuses.

What Can We Do To Curb Gun Violence? Is set for noon-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the Student Union Multi-Purpose room.

A panel consisting of Sonoma State University sociology professor Ben Frymer, The HUB director Mark Fabionar, interim Police Chief Sally Miller, Counseling and Psychological Services director Lisa Wyatt and Associated Students Executive Vice President Anthony Gallino, will look at some of the root causes of the problem and discuss ways of addressing the issue from a sociological, psychological, public safety and race and class perspectives.

Organizers say this will not be a program about second amendment rights or a standard gun control debate but is a program where the audience is encouraged to participate, ask questions and help formulate some useful suggestions and action plans that could be utilized by the campus community.

Participants will have an opportunity to tell their stories of how gun violence has impacted their lives.
