The following problems are recommended for your practice over the course of the semester. Most of them will not be collected; other problems (mostly even-numbered) will be assigned in class for this purpose. However, doing these problems and seeking help as necessary are critical to your success in the course. This list is not written in stone; some problems may be added to this list or removed from this list as the semester progresses.
WARNING: In order to benefit from the practice problems, it is important to do each problem (or at least make a serious attempt) before looking at the solution in the solutions manual.
Note: Problems with a “*” after them have alternate instructions or hints given at the end of this list.

Starred Problems:
Section 2.2, Problems 13-15: Just find the domain, don’t worry about the range.
Section 3.4, Problem 11: Use a graphing calculator to estimate the answer to part (c).
Section 6.2, Problem 35: Start by drawing a picture. It may help to remember that sin(30°) = 1/2 and sin(150°) = 1/2.
Section 8.1, Problem 27: First, use the graph of g(x) to estimate g(g(-2)), g(g(-1)), g(g(0)), g(g(1)), and g(g(2)). Then, use your answers to plot 5 points on the graph of g(g(x)). Now, go from there.
Section 9.3, Problem 31: Recall that a “double zero” at 3 means that the factored formula for g(x) has two (x-3) factors in it.
