Scholarships for Sociology Majors

Awarded annually to a Sociology Major at Sonoma State University. The Joseph J. Byrne Scholarship is administered through the University Scholarship Program http://www.sonoma.edu/scholarship/. The merit-based University Scholarship Program is campus wide and requires a single application packet for all the campus wide scholarships. The application packet consists of a narrative, three letters of recommendation, transcripts, and the application. You must be an applicant, already accepted, or a current student at SSU in order to apply for a university scholarship. The application period begins in November for the next academic year. The deadline to submit the materials is once a year on January 15.

Robert Holzapfel Scholarship

Awarded annually to a student studying Sociology or Counseling. The Robert Holzapfel Scholarship is administered through the University Scholarship Program http://www.sonoma.edu/scholarship/ . Delphine Newman Internship Expense Scholarship

Awarded every semester, the Delphine Newman Internship Scholarship is a competitive scholarship awarded to deserving students in the School of Social Sciences, who are engaged in internships in the human services, particularly related to care of women and children. Others will also be considered. Each student will receive $200 for the semester in which he or she is engaged in the internship activity for expenses incurred by doing the internship activity. Students will be asked to write a letter of thanks to Ms. Newman upon receipt of the scholarship. The Scholarship Office at SSU offers numerous merit-based scholarships based on criteria such as GPA and career interests, below are several scholarship opportunities especially targeted In order to apply for a scholarship, you must be attending SSU or have applied for admission to SSU. There is only one form to use for all scholarships. It is available on-line or at the Scholarship Office September 15th and is due by January 15th for the Fall semester of the following academic year. There is a minimum cumulative GPA requirement.
