Subject: 2014 Click it or Ticket Campaign
Date: May 19 - June 1, 2014
Seatbelts are the most effective safety feature ever invented. They have helped save thousands of lives. Sadly, one in five Americans fail to regularly wear a seatbelt when driving or riding in a motor vehicle. By maintaining the “Click It or Ticket” campaign and awareness, we will continue to reduce seatbelt fatalities on America’s roads.
SSU Police Services would like to remind all drivers of the following:
- When driving a motor vehicle a seatbelt must be worn at all times, this includes all passengers.
- The correct way to wear a seatbelt:
- Have the lower, lap, portion of the belt crossing the hips or upper thighs.
- The upper, shoulder, portion of the belt crossing the chest in front of the occupant.
NOTE: This means the shoulder portion is NOT to be worn behind the occupant, under the arm, or any other configuration.
For additional information, please stop by SSU Police Services, located in Verdot Village, or call 707-664-4444. For more information on the national campaign and seatbelts, visit the National Highway Transportation Safety Agency web site.
