President Ruben Armiñana announced that he will retire at the end of this academic year, June 30, 2016. The California State University has begun a national search for the next president of Sonoma State University.
Input from the Sonoma State and surrounding community is an essential part of the selection process. An open forum is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8 in the SSU’s Student Center ballroom. This gathering will allow the selection and advisory committees to gather input on qualities and experience essential in the next president. All Sonoma State University students, faculty and staff are invited as well as the surrounding community.
President Armiñana will leave Sonoma State after 24 years of oversight of the academic and infrastructure of the growing campus. Due to the selection of an excellent faculty, the University’s academic reputation has grown. Sonoma is now one of the most requested campuses in the CSU. The physical campus provides students with a 21st century learning environment and co-curricular programs meet the needs of a traditionally-aged student population. Dr. Armiñana’s guidance has positioned Sonoma State to continue to prosper under its next president.
