Vocal Studio
The SSU Vocal Program is a thriving wing of the SSU Music Department. Vocal students participate in a broad range of performance activities including major choral-orchestral works, opera, chamber music, musical theater and solo recitals. The performance program is augmented by a strong curriculum in theory, ear training and piano and music history, helping the student to develop as a complete musician. Vocal students may select the Applied Music Concentration, a curriculum emphasizing the development of strong technical and interpretive skills as well as diction. Students audition for private instruction placement with our voice faculty. Voice Repertory class is required of all Applied Music majors whose primary performing medium is the voice.
Vocal program faculty includes Lynne Morrow, Music Theater and voice; Karen Clark, vocal studies, diction; Chris Fritzsche, vocal studies; Susan Witt-Butler, voice, diction; and Bob Worth, choral music.
