What I Do at SSU

I teach Horn and Brass Methods and co-direct the SSU Brass Ensemble with Brian Wilson. I also serve as music department liaison to the office of University Affairs.

My Bio

Ruth Wilson has taught at Sonoma State since 2003. She holds a master of arts degree in music from the University of Denver and a bachelor of science degree in music education from Hartwick College. Her teachers include Julia Clay, David Kaslow, Pete Nowlen, David Sprung and Darby Hinshaw. She plays regularly with Copeland Creek Brass, Meltemi Winds, American Philharmonic of Sonoma County, in local theatre orchestras and on faculty and student concerts at Sonoma State. In addition to private students at home, she teaches beginning horn at Kenilworth Junior High School and has coached horns at local high schools including Maria Carrillo and Analy. Ruth and Brian Wilson are the proud parents of an artistically acclaimed son, Jerry.
