Free Concert Lineup: Rock Collegium, Student Composers & more

Of the 30-plus concerts presented every semester, more than two-thirds of them are free.

 

 

 

 

When we in the music department say “Everybody performs,” we aren’t kidding. Concert season includes performances in fabulous venues like the Green Music Center, Weill Hall, and Warren Auditorium.

Reflections from the Studio
Instrumental Repertory Recital - 11/20, 1 PM Weill Hall
A juried performance of chamber music; featured works to include Dvorak’s A Major piano quintet; Juon’s Four Miniatures; Turina’s Scene Andalouse & Chopin’s Nocturne in C-sharp minor.
 

From Apocalyptica to Zappa

Rock Collegium returns with more brand-new compositions in various Rock styles, plus playing covers of old – and not-so-old – favorites by Yes, Zappa, Apocalyptica and more.

Showcasing the talents of our music composition students, performing their original works – with a little help from their friends.

Jazz Ensembles & Rock Collegium - 11/25, 7:30 PM Weill Hall
Right before your ears you will witness the evolution of styles from modern jazz through fusion to art rock on this eclectic concert. Performances By SSU’s Bebop ensemble, Funk/Fusion ensemble & Rock Collegium.

Evert B. Person Theatre
A 475-seat proscenium theatre, Person Theatre is adjacent to Ives Hall in the southeastern area of campus. From the South entrance on East Cotati Avenue, turn right at the stop sign in front of the information kiosk. Park in Lots E (left) and F (right).

Donald and Maureen Green Music Center (GMC)
Located at the north entrance to campus, off Rohnert Park Expressway and just west of Petaluma Hill Road. Parking is available in Lots O and L. The GMC complex includes:
Joan and Sanford I. Weill Hall
Music Education Hall
Hospitality Center and "Prelude" Restaurant
Schroeder's Recital Hall (opening in 2014)
GMC 1027, 1028 and 1029 in Music Education Hall
From the North entrance at Rohnert Park Expressway, proceed past Weill Hall. Park in Lot L (on the right). Enter the building through the glass doorway at the top of the steps.

Warren Auditorium
A 200-seat proscenium auditorium, Warren Auditorium is located on the second floor of Ives Hall in the southeastern area of campus. From the South entrance on East Cotati Avenue, turn right at the stop sign in front of the information kiosk. Park in Lots E (left) and F (right).
