Fall 2013 Headliners Include Jason Vieaux, Trio Ariadne

August 1, 2013 — Weill Hall Artists-in-Residence Trio Ariadne and classical guitarist Jason Vieaux are among the highlights of the Sonoma State University Music Department’s recently announced fall concert series. The full season includes a special 12-concert series of ticketed events, as well as numerous free concerts at the Green Music Center (GMC) and Warren Auditorium.

Jazz Forum Returns!
The wildly popular Wednesdays at 1 Jazz Forum returns for its third year, hosted by Jazz Studies Director Doug Leibinger. See schedule below.

Weill Hall Series
Ticketed concerts in Weill Hall include twelve faculty, visiting artist and student ensemble concerts. Single ticket prices are $15 general and $10 seniors and non-SSU students. Pick any six for $75/$42. Click here to purchase tickets online.

November is Education Month!
Three music festivals will bring more than 500 middle and high school musicians to the Green Music Center during November. Dr. Andy Collinsworth, director of Bands and Music Education, along with students in the B.M. Music Ed program will host the CMEA Bay Section Solo and Ensemble Festival on Nov. 2. SSU has proudly hosted CMEA festivals since 2002. The second annual SSU Jazz Day takes place on Nov. 13 with Jazz Studies director Dr. Doug Leibinger hosting. The Closing Concert featuring the SSU Faculty Jazz Ensemble takes place at 7:30 p.m. in Weill Hall. Admission is free. On Nov. 15, Choral Activities director Dr. Jenny Bent will host the 12th Annual High School Choral Festival. Command Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Weill Hall and will feature outstanding choirs and the SSU Chamber Singers. Tickets are $10-$15.

Jazz Forum
Another outstanding lineup of up-and-coming jazz stars as well as living legends will visit the GMC education wing for Wednesdays @ 1 Jazz Forum. These informal sessions take place in GMC 1029 and are free and open to the public. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Details here. For updates, call 664-2324.
