Online Learning Readiness Self-Evaluation

Answer the following questions in order to determine if you are ready for learning in the online environment.

1. I have reliable access to a computer with an internet connection.
2. I am comfortable with computers, email, internet and other technology.
3. Reading for comprehension is easy for me.
4. Typing is easy for me.
5. I am self-motivated and self-disciplined.
6. I am a good time-manager.
7. I am goal-directed. If I set my sights on and end result, I usually achieve it.
8. I do not generally procrastinate on deadlines.
9. I am confident in my academic abilities.
10. I do not give up easily, even when confronted with obstacles.
11. I am willing to share my educational, professional, and life experiences with my classmates.
12. I believe I am responsible for my own education: what I learn is ultimately my responsibility.
13. I have a reasonable tolerance for frustration when faced with problems with my computer.
14. I am willing to try something new.
15. I am able to allocate 5-8 hours a week, day or night, in order to participate in an online class.
16. I am comfortable expressing my opinion in writing.
17. I find group discussion helps me in the learning process.
18. I am willing to actively participate in the leaning process by doing tasks, projects, etc.
19. I am a team player when it comes to working collaboratively with others.
20. I believe I can successfully learn without face to face interaction.

90% - 100%: You are an excellent candidate for online learning. This assessment is subjective, though, and carries no guarantees. Remember that online courses require as much or more effort as traditional courses do.

80% - 89%: You are a good candidate for online learning. You should think about how you might change the areas where you responded "No" to improve your online learning experience. Remember that online courses require as much or more effort as traditional courses do.

70% -79%: Online learning may require extra effort on your part for a successful learning experience.

Below 70%: Your learning style and skills might not be ready for online learning and may require additional effort in order to have a successful online experience.

If you answered "No" to any of questions 1-4, you should address those issues before enrolling in an online course.
