Key #4003

All cabinets use the same key. Instructors must check out a cabinet key from Customer Services (department approval is necessary). The key can be difficult to insert in the lock - it takes a bit of patience.

Turning on Computers, VCR/DVD and Data Projector

  1. Push the appropriate button on the panel to select a device (Mac, PC, Laptop, VCR or DVD).

  2. Power up the correct device. The PC can be turned on by pushing the button on the front of the CPU. The Mac’s power button is on the rear of the machine and to the right. The Mac is white and on top; the PC is black and on the bottom.
  3. Turn on projector with the “ON” button. It will begin to flash. Do NOT push any buttons while the “ON” button is flashing.
  4. To power down, projector PRESS and HOLD the “OFF” button until it starts flashing.

Computer Login

The computers are set up the same as the University computer labs. Login using your Seawolf userid.

Using a Laptop Computer

Each cabinet contains a laptop cable located in the open space next to the PC and Mac. This cable has VGA video and sound and connects to the laptop jack next to the control panel. This will connect your laptop to the overhead display and sound system. Connect the cable to your laptop following the manufacturer's instructions, and then follow the above directions for turning on the computer and data projector.

Volume Control

It is recommended you turn it all the way down until your source is running, as different sources have widely varying default volumes.

Picture and Audio Mutes

The projected image and the sound can be separately and temporarily be shut off without turning off the projector. Pressing “PIC MUTE” or “AUDIO MUTE” once will mute the picture and sound respectively. Pressing either again will unmute the picture and sound respectively.

Closed Captioning

Closed captioning is available when using the VCR or DVD.

  1. Press the “VCR” button even if you are using a DVD.
  2. Turn the selector knob on the closed caption device to CC1. A green indicator light will illuminate.
  3. Please switch closed captioning off when you are finished.

Tips

If you wish to switch between both computers, repeat steps 1 and 2 above for the second machine.

If your laptop does not work after connecting it to the laptop jack and following the instructions about “Using a Laptop Computer”, try restarting the laptop while it is connected and the data projector is on.

Lost Media

If you find media left behind in any drive, please leave it in the cabinet.

When Class is Done...

Please power down and put away equipment properly. To avoid problems and delays, follow these steps in order:

  1. Remove any media (disks and tapes) from the VCR/DVD player and computers.
  2. Power down VCR/DVD player.
  3. Power down computers (please use the shut down command). You do not need to turn off the computer monitor.
  4. Power down the data projector. You need to PRESS and HOLD the “OFF” button for a second or two, until the green light starts flashing. The flashing will continue for several minutes - you do not need to wait for it to stop.
  5. Return wireless keyboard, mouse, laptop cable and VCR/DVD remote to cabinet.
  6. Lock the cabinet.
  7. Roll the screen all the way up or all the way down. Leaving it partially pulled results in creases that take days to relax.
