International Student Advising
The foreign student advisor provides assistance to foreign students in meeting U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service requirements concerning F-1 or J-1 visas, school transfers, employment permits, practical training, and passports. The office also provides help understanding University policies such as the registration process, payment of fees, scholarships, orientation, housing, health insurance, and tuition waivers. Counseling is available regarding cultural adjustment to the U.S., American academic differences, testing, and personal problems. The foreign student advisor works closely with the International Student clubs. There are approximately 120 International Students at SSU and about 40 in the Language Institute.
