Additional Unsubsidized Loan Eligibility for Undergraduate Students
The federal government recently approved an increase of up to $2,000 in the annual Direct Loan eligibility for students in most undergraduate programs. The additional eligibility is only available from the unsubsidized loan, which means interest begins to accrue from the time you receive the loan funds. Payments on Unsubsidized Direct Loans are not due until 6 months after you graduate or otherwise cease to be enrolled at least half-time.
Emails/letters to students potentially eligible for the additional unsubsidized funds will be sent to your Sonoma email account or permanent home address around 7/25/08. If you wish to request additional Unsubsidized Direct Loan funds, use the Supplemental Loan Request (pdf) form and submit it to our office.
Parents who borrowed the maximum PLUS (Parent Loans for Undergraduate Students) for their student may be notified that the PLUS Loan has been decreased if the student has requested additional Unsubsidized Direct Loan funds.
