inMotion is a Campus Recreation program that strives to provide healthy, effective alternatives to standard workouts. inMotion emphasizes the importance of healthy lifestyles by providing group fitness and dance classes for SSU students, staff, faculty, and membership holders.
inMotion classes are only offered during the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic school year. inMotion group fitness instructors on staff are typically SSU students, although the position is open to all. We encourage our instructors to be certified as group fitness instructors, yet it is not currently a requirement for employment.
Classes offered through inMotion vary upon semester, however the following are some examples of classes we’ve offered during past semesters: yoga (several disciplines), pilates, dance (several styles/techniques), cardio kickboxing, spin, abs/buns/thighs, body sculpting/toning, step aerobics, boot camp, and self-defense.
Participation in the inMotion program is open to all fitness levels, shapes, and sizes! Aside from “Free-Week” or other complimentary promotions, participants must purchase a pass in order to attend an inMotion class. Passes may be purchased at the Front Desk of the Recreation Center. Furthermore, a waiver must be signed prior to participation. Due to the concern for our participants’ safety, those who are not properly dressed for exercise may not participate in the class.
Overall, inMotion is designed to offer participants a safe, welcoming atmosphere in which they can enjoy fitness and health with the support of their peers, our instructors, and the coordinators.
