Campus Rec Swim

Students with an SSU ID and a current enrollment sticker may use the pool for free. Other members are available for purchase.

Amenities

The pool measures 25 yards in length 10 lanes across. The shallowest lane is 3 ft. and the diving well is 13 ft. at its deepest point. There are three analog pace clocks located around the pool deck. Kickboards and pull-buoys are also available for participants to use. The P.E. Men's and Women's Locker Rooms have an entrance/exit to the pool deck making it easy to change and shower before/after entering the pool.

Staff

To ensure patron safety on the pool deck, two certified lifeguards are on duty during Campus Rec Swim hours. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you have regarding Campus Rec Swim.

Hours of Operation

Campus Rec Swim's hours of operation vary from semester to semester. Current hours and facility closures are posted online and out at the pool. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does it cost anything for students to participate in Campus Rec Swim?

A: Current, full-time, enrolled students may swim during Campus Rec Swim hours. For admittance, students are required to present their Student ID with a current semester sticker (visit Customer Service for more information) and a current Campus Recreation sticker (visit the Front Desk of the Recreation Center for more informaiton) to the lifeguard on duty.

Q: Doest the pool close when it's raining?

A: The following extreme situation and/or weather conditons can result in the pool being closed without notice:

  • Thunder and/or Lightning
  • Water Chemical Imbalance
  • Poor Water Circulation
  • Excessive Rain
  • Staff Emergency
In cases of extreme weather, the lifeguards on duty will ask all participants to exit the water. If the conditions do not decrease or cease within 20 minutes, for the safety of the participants, the lifeguards are required to close the pool.

Q: Are towel services and/or locker rentals available at the pool?

A: These services are not available through Campus Rec Swim, but the Kinesiology Department’s Central Issue Room offers a towel service for a small fee $5 per semester and free semester locker rentals. Please pay the fee in Customer Service, located in Salazar, and bring your receipt to the the Central Issue Room, located next to the main entrance to the pool.

Q: Do you offer swim lessons or instruction?

A: At this time, Campus Rec Swim does not offer lessons or instruction. Beginning in Fall 2006, Campus Rec Swim will offer monthly, 1-day stroke clinics and daily structured workouts. Swim lessons are available in the summer months through the Athletics Department. For more information regarding Lil’ Wolves Summer Swim Camps, please call 707-664-2521.
