Waste & Recycling
According to the EPA, Americans produce about 250 million tons of trash every year. Of that, about 30% is recycled or composted. Most human-created trash ends up in landfills, which make open space uninhabitable for wildlife. Landfills are a significant source of pollution for nearby waterways, and in many places trash is burned, creating air pollution and contributing to respiratory illness. Campus Recreation implements a variety of reducing and recycling methods to lesson our waste production.
