Amanda Kosty

Chair of the Senate

My name is Amanda Kosty and I am the Chair of the Senate. Im a cool kid. I like Harry Potter, sparkly things, panda bears, Lobo, traveling, and the SF Giants.
Coming from a small agricultural town in the Central Coast of California, I had always been involved not only in school activities but also in the community. When I decided to come to SSU, I never would have imagined it was going to be a perfect fit for me. Coming to Sonoma State University, I did not know a single person but quickly found out there are lots of opportunities to take advantage of; it is just up to you to go find them. I have been involved with JUMP volunteering to tutor kids, planned this same program, help build houses in New Orleans, travel to Spain through a summer study abroad program and eventually found my way to student government. In my 3 years at SSU, I have come to love it and want to help ensure each student is getting the experience they want. The Associated Students are the official student voice on campus and I want to use my voice to better the SSU community and ensure students are being served exceptionally.
Be the change you want to see in the world - Ghandi .This is something I believe we all should follow, and by holding the position of Chair of the Senate, I believe I am helping to implement change to better students experiences. There are many issues on campus, within the organization and within the state that ASI addresses and I look forward to being part of the team that tackles them. I encourage everyone to find their niche at SSU and approach student government with any issues you are facing. We are students too.
