OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS: How and When to Apply
All graduate and postbaccalaureate applicants (e.g. master's degree applicants and those seeking credentials) must file a complete graduate/postbaccalaureate application.
Sonoma State University prefers electronic applications, available online at CSUMentor.
Applicants who completed undergraduate degree requirements and graduated the preceding term are also required to complete and submit an application and the $55 nonrefundable application fee. To apply for admission at more than one campus, it is necessary to submit separate applications (including fees) to each.
Fall Application Period
- Applications are accepted October 1st - January 31st, unless otherwise noted. Some departments may have later deadlines. See Admissions Filing Dates for specific departmental deadlines.
Spring Application Period
- Applications are accepted August 1 - 31. Certain departments and programs do not accept spring applications, and some have later deadlines; see Admissions Filing Dates for details.
If you are applying to a graduate or credential program, you will have two separate application processes pending: one to the University and one to the specific graduate program. Be sure to contact the department to learn their deadlines and requirements, which are in addition to those of the University.
After you apply online, you will receive an email response to let you know the application was successfully submitted. Please KEEP THIS EMAIL, as it also contains important information about the processing of your application.
