Instructional Materials Accessibility
Instructional materials and online course materials must be accessible to persons with disabilities, and to the extent possible, available at the same time as they are for any other student. Communication should be as effective for individuals with disabilities as it is for individuals without disabilities. Communication is considered to be equally effective when it is:
- Comparable in quality to those received by students without disabilities
- Comparable in timeliness of delivery and availability
- Provided in a manner and medium appropriate to the significance of the message and the abilities of the person receiving the material
Instructional Materials Accessibility Goals
- Timely adoption of textbook and related materials
- Provide syllabi in accessible electronic format. Include a statement inviting students to discuss individual learning needs.
- Provide training toward making instructional materials accessible
- When possible, use and purchase only close-captioned videos
