Program Review

The Office of Academic Programs provides departments with support in the Program Review Process, a five year cycle of review for all degree programs -- undergraduate and graduate.

Departments should consult with Academic Programs and with their School Dean prior to beginning their self-study. Regularly scheduled program review is a requirement of SSU, the CSU, and our accrediting body, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Assessment

All programs, including General Education, are responsible to maintain Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) for their programs and review these outcomes on a periodic basis. These SLOs should be assessed on a regular cycle and reported annually to the School Dean and the Office of Academic Programs.

The American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) has been a leader in the area of educational effectiveness, student learning outcomes and assessment, and providing faculty with the tools to effectively assess student learning . The resources in Educational Effectiveness provide an excellent framework and support for faculty engaged in the important work of assessment of student learning.
